New Featured Artwork
It's November, and the fall colors have gradually come and gone in north Texas.
In a moment of nostalgia, I painted this little still life,
hoping to capture some of the reds, oranges, and forest
greens that I so love and appreciate about fall. The gourd reminds me of the beautiful decorations
my mom would adorn
our home with every
autumn - it is her
favorite season. The oak leaves and acorns remind me of the massive
oaks where I grew up. Every
fall they shed their leaves and left a beautiful brown and red carpet for us to enjoy as
we prepared for winter.

From the artist's desk...

Steve and I have just wrapped up our art festival season, and not only were the shows successful, but we enjoyed meeting many of you and hearing your stories. I was frequently amazed (and amused!) by how a single glance at a work of art would remind someone of a time in their own life - stirring up a wonderful story that made them connect with that painting. I particularly love realism for this reason - we can all relate to it somehow.

At these art shows, I also had the opportunity to meet many other talented artists. It is encouraging to know that we are all in this together! We may have different ideas about what art is and what it's for - and we may have different reasons for doing it. But either way, it is a joy to be doing what we love to do: CREATE!

So, with Thanksgiving just around the corner, I have to say that I am thankful for my freedom to create and use my God-given gifts to bless the lives of others. I am also thankful that art is still appreciated, through good times and bad, because we need it to help enrich our lives!

This is a very busy time of year, so I won't let this get long. I do want to remind you that aside from my framed originals, I have prints and greeting cards available for sale right on my website at http://www.annasblankcanvas.com/gallery/

. Greeting cards make especially great Christmas gifts because they're personal and practical. They come in sets of 10 (envelopes included), but if you are interested in purchasing a set of 10 or more in different designs, please email me at annarosebain@gmail.com.
