From the artist's desk... I recently signed on with a Fort Worth gallery called Weiler House Fine Art. They are having a reception tomorrow (February 13) from 2:00-9:00 to showcase several new artists, myself included. The address is 3126 Handley Drive Fort Worth, TX 76112 if you happen to be in the area. I am excited about this new venture and ready to show my work to a fresh audience. The gallery owner has also asked me to create some more pieces featuring horses. Naturally, I'm excited about this, as horses were my first love when I was drawing as a child. New paintings are already in the works!
Meanwhile, I am continuing to paint commissioned portraits as well as some new works for an upcoming art festival in Houston. I have moments where I wonder what to paint next, but the truth is, my best paintings are representations of things I love. People rank number one in that category - after that, countless things can become elements to a painting once they've caught my imagination. My latest still life features some lemons, which offer bright splashes of yellow - alongside an artichoke, which provides a fascinating texture - and a beautiful brass pitcher that my sister found for me at a resale shop. Why the combination? Because it's interesting and beautiful. That's really all I need for this painting to turn out. Positivity and love for art are driving me this year, and I'm excited to share with you the creative results.
"Still Life with Artichoke and Lemons (unfinished)" 16" x 12" - oil on linen glued to board Available With so much beauty and inspiration to be found, 2010 is looking to be a great year! Keep checking my website for new works... Sincerely, Anna Rose Bain
